The films are designed as four theatrical features, each told from a different Beatle’s perspective. Sony’s latest dated update gives April 2028 as the timing for worldwide full theatrical windows.
Who plays each Beatle?
| Beatle | Actor |
|---|---|
| John Lennon | Harris Dickinson |
| Paul McCartney | Paul Mescal |
| Ringo Starr | Barry Keoghan |
| George Harrison | Joseph Quinn |
The four lead roles were confirmed in the project announcement from Sony Pictures.
Why are there four Beatles films?
Rather than one conventional biopic, Mendes is directing four distinct theatrical films. Each takes the point of view of a different band member, with the stories intersecting to form a single account. The announcement does not specify how the films will be spaced or the release cadence for each one.
Producer Pippa Harris described the plan as “four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time,” in Sony’s 2024 announcement. That is the producers’ description of the format, not a claim that the project is a documentary.

When will the Beatles films be released?
The latest dated official timing is worldwide full theatrical windows in April 2028, according to the 12 February 2026 update. It does not establish that all four films will open on the same day; the schedule and cadence are to be shared closer to release.
There is an older date still visible elsewhere: Sony’s 20 February 2024 announcement and the project page list 2027. The later February 2026 update is the newer dated statement, so April 2028 is the current official timing to cite. The Beatles project page has not been updated to match it.
