For a night of horror on NOW Cinema, start with the kind of fright you want: a slow-burn classic, a supernatural scare, a creature feature or something more graphic. This curated list brings together 21 films from a selection published by Stuff and updated in March 2025. It is a watchlist, not a current availability promise: NOW regularly updates its movie catalogue, so check each title in the UK catalogue before settling on one.
How to choose from this horror watchlist
The films cover very different moods. For quieter psychological unease, try Rosemary’s Baby or mother!; for supernatural scares, look to The Exorcist, The Ring or Insidious. If you want a lighter, more comic take, Gremlins and M3GAN mix horror with comedy. The descriptions below are editorial characterisations, not a ranked score or a claim that every film is currently included with NOW Cinema.
The 21 films, by the fright they offer
Human threats and psychological tension
- Don’t Breathe — A tense home-invasion thriller built around a group of intruders who discover that their target is far more dangerous than they expected.

- mother! — A confrontational, increasingly chaotic blend of psychological and body horror.
- The Purge — Dystopian home-invasion horror that turns a family’s attempt to shelter at home into a fight for survival.
Ghosts, curses and the supernatural
- The Exorcist (1974) — A landmark occult-possession film centred on a child’s possession and the attempt to confront it.
- The Ring (2002) — Supernatural curse horror in which a disturbing videotape sets a deadly chain of events in motion.
- Insidious — A modern supernatural horror film that leans on eerie imagery and jump scares.
- The Woman in Black (2012) — A traditional ghost story, set around a remote house and a persistent, unsettling presence.
Monsters, creatures and the uncanny
- Gremlins — A lighter, comic creature feature in which mischievous monsters wreak havoc.
- Jaws — A suspenseful shark thriller with the threat of a creature lurking just out of sight.

- The Birds — Alfred Hitchcock’s suspense classic turns ordinary birds into an unpredictable threat.
Slashers, killers and genre hybrids
- Halloween (2018) — A slasher sequel that returns to the threat of masked killer Michael Myers.
- Christine — A killer-car horror story in which a vehicle takes on a life—and menace—of its own.
- Hellraiser (1987) — Demonic horror with a distinctive, graphic and fetish-inflected edge.

Check NOW Cinema before you press play
The list reflects a selection published by Stuff on 24 October 2024 and updated on 31 March 2025. It should not be read as a live NOW catalogue. NOW says it regularly updates its movie collection and directs viewers to its catalogue for currently available titles (NOW Cinema). Availability can change by title: the NOW listing for The Exorcist, for example, stated Cinema availability until 30 September 2026, then identified access through Entertainment and HBO Max (NOW’s listing for The Exorcist). Check the individual film listing in the UK before watching.
