In November 2025, wrestler Nixon Newell, formerly known in WWE as Tegan Nox, disputed reports that she and Miranda Alize rejected an AEW match because they did not want to lose. Newell’s reported explanation was that the planned bout had only three minutes allotted and she did not think that would benefit either team. The accounts conflict, and the available reporting does not establish the pair’s motive as settled fact.
What happened at the AEW Collision taping
VICE reported that Newell and Alize made their Collision tag-team debut the previous week against Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne, who won in under three minutes. They were expected to face Anna Jay and Tay Conti—also known as Tay Melo—as TayJay on the following Saturday. That match did not take place; Hyan and Maya World wrestled in their place. VICE’s November 10, 2025 account describes the sequence.
PWInsider reported on November 9 that Newell and Alize turned down the planned booking, asked for more time, and left about an hour before bell time. The outlet said the proposed short match was intended to make Conti and Jay look strong, and reported that Newell and Alize were not signed to AEW at the time. Those details are PWInsider’s reporting, not an official AEW statement. PWInsider’s report gives its account of the booking dispute.
Why the accounts differ
| Account | What it says the dispute was about | Attribution and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Initial booking report | Newell and Alize rejected the planned match, requested more time, and left before the show. | Reported by PWInsider; it is outlet reporting, not an official AEW finding. |
| Newell’s explanation | The team objected to the three-minute allotment because she believed it would not benefit either team—not because they refused to lose. | VICE reported Newell’s account from a Twitch livestream. It is her explanation, not independent confirmation of the backstage discussion. |
| Follow-up reporting | The issue was the three-minute time allocation, rather than a refusal to take another loss. | Wrestleview said Fightful Select reported this distinction; the report does not independently resolve the parties’ motives. |
In VICE’s account of the livestream, Newell said they learned their opponents shortly after doors opened and were then told the match would be three minutes. She said they spoke politely with a producer, who passed along the information, and that they were allowed to leave. Newell also said there was “no bad blood.” VICE’s account of Newell’s explanation quotes her describing the time concern: “We were polite, we were respectful. We called our producer over, and we said, ‘Hey, I don’t think three minutes are going to benefit either of us, not just us, but everyone in the tag team,’”

Wrestleview’s same-day update attributed to Fightful Select the report that the disagreement concerned the allotted three minutes, not a refusal to take another loss. This is consistent with Newell’s explanation, but it remains reporting about a backstage account rather than an adjudicated conclusion. Wrestleview’s update summarizes that report.
What Newell said publicly
On November 9, 2025, Newell posted: “Not everything you read is true. Remember that.” VICE quoted the post in its coverage. It challenged the initial framing without, by itself, specifying the full disagreement. VICE’s report includes the post and her later explanation.

What can—and cannot—be concluded
The reports establish that the planned match was replaced and that competing accounts of the dispute circulated. PWInsider described a refusal of the booking after a request for more time; Newell’s reported account centered on the proposed three-minute length. The available sources do not independently determine why the pair left, and no official AEW statement about the incident is established here. The most accurate description is therefore that Newell disputed the refusal-to-lose framing and said the allotted time was the issue.
