Why orange became part of the Taylor Swift conversation
Glamour’s August 12, 2025 article connected the album announcement to orange details in Taylor Nation posts and orange outfits Swift had worn during the Eras Tour. It also noted a carrot-colored “TS” on a box carried to Travis Kelce’s studio. The story described orange as a shift from colors associated with earlier album eras, but did not establish that Swift had explained the choice.
Glamour contrasted the new color focus with Pantone’s Mocha Mousse, its Color of the Year, and presented orange as a possible rival. That is the publication’s framing: the article offered no sales data, survey, or other measurement showing that orange was actually the leading fall 2025 fashion color. Its description of orange as an “optimistic and playful direction” was the writer’s interpretation.
What the album announcement does—and does not—explain
Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl during an appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast. Glamour’s September 7, 2025 explainer reported an October 3, 2025 release date. In discussing the music, Swift said she wanted “melodies that were so infectious you’re almost angry at it” and “lyrics that are just as vivid, but crisp and focused and completely intentional.” Those remarks describe songwriting goals; they do not explain the album’s color palette.

What “the color of fall 2025” means here
The phrase describes a timely pop-culture fashion angle: orange was associated with Swift’s album announcement and then used by Glamour to organize a shopping edit. It should not be read as an official designation, proof of a broad market trend, or a claim about fall 2026.
