Steal is a six-episode limited thriller starring Sophie Turner, built around a workplace heist that expands into an investigation of a threat to ordinary people’s pensions. Its compact, self-contained format makes it a plausible weekend binge for viewers in the mood for an escalating crime story—though “perfect” depends on your taste.
What is Steal about?
Zara works at Lochmill Capital, a fictional pension-fund investment company. An ordinary workday turns violent when armed thieves take over the workplace and force Zara and her friend and colleague Luke to carry out their demands. The resulting investigation asks who would target ordinary people’s pensions—and why. Amazon’s official series guide describes the story and its central question.
The premise begins as a contained workplace heist, then widens into a financial-crime mystery. That combination gives the thriller a specific focus: the people caught up in the robbery and the money the criminals are pursuing.
Why it could work as a weekend binge
Steal is a six-part limited series, not an open-ended multi-season show. The finite episode count offers a contained commitment for viewers looking for a thriller with a defined run. Neither the production listing nor the official guide establishes a total runtime, so the episode count alone cannot say how many hours a complete viewing would take.

The story’s escalating investigation and heist setup may suit viewers who enjoy crime thrillers that pair immediate danger with a larger mystery. Sophie Turner described the series as “a fun sense of escapism” in a TV Insider interview; that is her view of the show, not a guarantee that every viewer will find it light or relaxing. One Guardian reviewer called it “this wild thriller” and read it as “a meditation on the notion that the love of money is the root of all evil”—one critic’s interpretation rather than a consensus verdict.

Is Steal the right pick for you?
- Consider it if you want a short, finite thriller, enjoy a heist story that grows into a wider investigation, or are curious to see Turner lead a crime series.
- It may be less appealing if you want a documentary or factual account: Steal is a scripted thriller, and its pension-fund plot is fictional.
- Keep expectations personal: the “weekend binge” label reflects the six-episode format, while reactions to the show’s tone and themes remain subjective.
