Paramount+’s announcement describes a town-wide response to new weight-loss drugs. Its synopsis says, “In SOUTH PARK: THE END OF OBESITY, the advent of new weight loss drugs has a huge impact on everyone in South Park.” It adds: “When Cartman is denied access to the life-changing medicine, the kids jump into action.” The official announcement does not spell out what the kids do or how the story ends.

What did the first look reveal about Cartman?
The announcement’s “thinner Cartman” hook refers to the preview image: it showed Cartman looking slimmer. That image is a first-look reveal, not confirmation of the character’s eventual circumstances or a detailed account of the plot. The official synopsis establishes only that Cartman is denied access to the medicine and that the kids respond.
When did the special premiere?
Paramount+ announced the schedule on May 15, 2024. The dates were regional and are now historical:

Paramount+’s title page currently presents the special for streaming and prompts viewers to sign up. The catalog lists it as a 2024 comedy, rated TV-MA, with a runtime of 50 minutes. Availability and subscription terms can vary by country and change over time, so check the title page for your territory. Paramount+’s viewing guidance for South Park exclusive events, dated June 7, 2024, also identifies the service as the place to stream the special.

Who made the special?
Paramount Press Express identifies MTV Entertainment Studios as the producer. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are credited as co-creators and executive producers, alongside executive producers Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II. Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell, and Vernon Chatman are listed as producers. The Paramount Press Express release carries the production credits.

The 2024 announcement places the special within a long-running series: South Park debuted on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997, and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022. The announcement also said the series had been renewed on Comedy Central through 2027, carrying it through its 30th season. Those franchise milestones provide context for the special; they do not change its standalone premise or its original 2024 premiere schedule.
