Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on March 19, 2027, according to Paramount’s current movie listing. Paramount Pictures France lists March 24, 2027, so the release date varies by territory. SEGA has also announced a 2027 merchandise partnership with JAKKS Pacific and Disguise, but the announcement does not mean products are already available to buy.
When does Sonic the Hedgehog 4 come out?
Paramount’s U.S. listing gives the film a theatrical release date of March 19, 2027. SEGA announced that same date on January 22, 2025, describing the fourth film as a theatrical release based on its Sonic franchise.
Dates can differ by country. Paramount Pictures France lists March 24, 2027 for France. Check the listing for your territory rather than assuming the U.S. date applies worldwide.
What Sonic 4 merchandise has been announced?
SEGA announced a licensing partnership with JAKKS Pacific and its costume division, Disguise. The planned early-2027 range includes action figures, plush, playsets, role-play products, costumes and costume accessories. JAKKS says the products are intended for global online and retail availability in 2027.

The characters named for the line are Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Metal Sonic. The companies have announced product categories and plans, not specific live listings, prices, stock or retailer availability. If you are looking for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 action figures, treat that as a category to watch—not a confirmation that a particular figure is on sale.
SEGA’s March 10, 2026 announcement reported that Sonic had reached 1.77 billion combined units in sales and free-to-play downloads. That is SEGA’s combined franchise figure, not a count of paid game sales alone.

The official pages cited here do not establish a plot synopsis, complete cast and crew, streaming service, or home-release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 4. No streaming platform or post-theatrical window should be treated as confirmed based on these announcements.

How does the new film fit the franchise?
In its January 22, 2025 release-date announcement, SEGA said Sonic the Hedgehog 3 had grossed $425 million worldwide at that time, surpassing the $405 million record SEGA attributed to the prior film. Those are figures reported by SEGA in 2025, not current box-office totals.
