SONIC introduced its Bourbon Caramel Iced Coffee as a limited-time drink in 2025. It combines cold brew and bourbon-caramel flavor with whipped topping, caramel drizzle and a miniature cowboy hat garnish. Despite the name, SONIC described the flavor as non-alcoholic.
What is SONIC’s Bourbon Caramel Iced Coffee?
SONIC described the drink as smooth cold brew poured over its signature ice, with bourbon-caramel flavor, whipped topping, caramel drizzle and a miniature cowboy hat garnish. The announcement does not give ingredient quantities or nutrition information.
The drink concept came from Bianca Fernandez, a New York-based contestant and social media strategist on NBC’s On Brand with Jimmy Fallon. SONIC said brand executives selected her idea after the show’s creative challenge and a special drive-in event.
Does it contain alcohol?
No. SONIC explicitly described the bourbon-caramel flavor as non-alcoholic. “Bourbon” in the name refers to the flavor; the launch announcement does not describe the drink as containing alcoholic bourbon.

Why did SONIC make the drink?
The coffee grew out of the partnership with On Brand with Jimmy Fallon, which challenged contestants to develop brand ideas. SONIC Chief Marketing Officer Ryan Dickerson said in the 2025 launch announcement: “What makes our new Bourbon Caramel Iced Coffee so exciting is that it started as an idea dreamt up by a contestant, and it’s now a real drink for our guests to enjoy at our more than 3,400 locations.” That location figure was part of Dickerson’s statement at the time, not a current verified count.
