Entertainment Tonight transcribed Garrison’s line in its July 2023 trailer coverage as: “You know what, Robyn, have him. We’re all grown adults that don’t need a father figure anymore.” In a March 2024 retrospective, ET rendered the punctuation and wording slightly differently: “You know what, Robyn? Have him. We’re all grown adults who don’t need a father figure anymore.” The versions differ in punctuation and in “that” versus “who”; the first wording is used here consistently.

What was happening in the scene?
The line appeared in footage previewed in a Season 18 trailer. ET’s July 2023 report presented it alongside a heated argument between Janelle and Kody Brown, during which Janelle questioned whether she still wanted the marriage. Season 18 premiered on August 20, 2023, making the remark a moment from an earlier season rather than a new statement.
In its March 2024 retrospective, ET situated the comment amid strained relationships between Kody and some of his older children, with disagreements during the COVID-19 pandemic among the reported background. That context helps explain why the line resonated, but it does not establish the private motives of every family member.

Did Janelle say the family’s relationships were settled?
No. In an interview quoted by ET in November 2023, Janelle expressed hope that Kody would eventually build relationships with his children: “I think that’s probably the goal, right? He will eventually figure out how to have a relationship with his children. I mean, I hope it will over time.” Her comment is a reminder that Garrison’s pointed remark should not be treated as proof that every family member had reached the same view or that the relationships were permanently settled.
Why the comment is now viewed in a later context
ET reported that Garrison died in March 2024 at age 25. His parents, Janelle and Kody, issued a joint statement asking for privacy and for him to be honored. The scene and his death are separate facts: the available reporting does not establish that the remark caused or predicted his death.

Which Sister Wives episode was it?
The cited coverage identifies the footage as part of the Season 18 trailer, but does not establish the episode number or title. It is more accurate to identify it as a Season 18 scene previewed in the July 2023 trailer than to assign it to a specific episode without confirmation.
