Shakira’s photos are best understood through the career eras they document—not as one complete, continuous public archive. This timeline follows selected visual milestones from the 1990s to her 2025 tour, distinguishing an image’s actual date and setting from the album or tour era it represents.
How to read Shakira’s photo timeline
An album’s release year can identify the era a photograph evokes, but it does not prove when the photograph was taken. A useful caption separates four details: the date the image was made, the album or tour era it represents, the event or location, and the photographer or archive that holds or publishes it. The entries below are source-backed milestones and collections, not a complete photo-by-photo archive.
1990s: from Pies Descalzos to Dónde Están Los Ladrones?
Pies Descalzos (1995)
Sony Music España lists Pies Descalzos in 1995, making that the label’s date for this timeline. Biography.com gives 1996 in its chronology, so release-year references differ between these sources. Neither date establishes when a particular portrait or performance photograph was taken. Sony Music España’s discography is the source for the label’s listing.
Dónde Están Los Ladrones? (1998)
The 1998 album is another clear marker for Shakira’s 1990s career. To document this period visually, use photographs with image-level dates and provenance rather than treating the album year as a photo date. Sony’s discography establishes the release-era marker, not the date or rights status of individual images.

2000–2004: MTV Unplugged and Laundry Service
Shakira MTV Unplugged (2000)
Sony’s chronology places the MTV Unplugged release in 2000. A performance image from an unplugged recording or broadcast should be captioned with the actual recording or event date when known; the release year is an era reference, not a substitute.
Laundry Service (2001) and the live era
Laundry Service followed in 2001. Sony also lists the concert release Live & Off The Record (2004), which offers a distinct live-performance marker. These labels help organize a visual timeline, but do not establish the date of any photograph associated with the albums or concert release.

2005–2007: Fijación Oral, Oral Fixation and tour imagery
Sony lists the Fijación Oral and Oral Fixation releases in 2005. The GRAMMY Museum’s January 26, 2023 announcement offers specific visual context for the era: its exhibit included the leaf-covered bikini worn for the Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 cover in 2005 and a pink-crystal Fender Stratocaster played during the 2006–2007 Oral Fixation tour. These are described as artifacts, not as a chronological photo gallery. The Museum also said the exhibit included official press photos.
The distinction matters: an artifact associated with a cover or tour can help identify an era, but it is not itself proof of a photograph’s date or provenance. The Museum said its exhibit drew on 40 artifacts from Shakira’s personal archive; that total includes more than photographs. The GRAMMY Museum announcement describes the exhibit and its selected material.

2009–2011: She Wolf and Sale el Sol
Sony’s discography lists She Wolf (2009) and Sale el Sol (2010). A later concert marker is Live From Paris (2011). Together, these releases provide a framework for grouping campaign, public-appearance, and performance photographs—provided captions identify what kind of image each one is and give its actual date and source where available.
2017–2020: El Dorado and major performances
El Dorado (2017) and its tour
Sony lists El Dorado in 2017, while the GRAMMY Museum’s exhibit announcement identifies outfits from the 2018 El Dorado tour. The album year and the tour year refer to different milestones; neither should be used as a stand-in for the date of a particular photograph.

Super Bowl LIV (2020)
The Museum also identified two outfits from Shakira’s 2020 Super Bowl LIV performance among the exhibit’s artifacts. That provides a documented performance-era anchor, but the announcement does not supply a full gallery of images from the event.

AP’s collection is a recent, tour-focused selection—not an archive covering Shakira’s whole career. Individual entries link to image licensing, so readers seeking to reproduce a photograph should follow the rights information for that specific image. View AP’s “PHOTO COLLECTION: Shakira on Tour” for its captions and image-level credits.
Where to find and how to credit photos
Shakira’s official site links to music, videos, tour information, a store, philanthropy, and other destinations, but the site information available here does not present a chronological photo archive. The GRAMMY Museum documents selected materials from her personal archive and says its exhibit included official press photos; it does not establish a comprehensive public gallery. AP provides captioned, credited images from the 2025 tour, with licensing links on individual entries.
Quick Recap
- For career-era labels: use Sony Music España’s discography, while keeping album release dates separate from photo dates.
- For selected archival context: consult the GRAMMY Museum’s exhibit announcement and distinguish its artifacts from photographs.
- For recent tour coverage: use AP’s captions and photographer credits, and check licensing on the individual image.
- Before reproducing any image: confirm the exact photo date, attribution, and reproduction rights with its rights holder. The sources cited here do not establish permission to republish historical images.
