Plizzanet Earth is a comedy bit, not an alternate edition of the BBC documentary: Snoop Dogg narrates wildlife footage with casual, improvised jokes that play against the serious imagery. The contrast made the clips memorable, but “the internet’s most addictive” is a headline’s opinion, not a measured ranking.
What is Plizzanet Earth?
Plizzanet Earth began as a recurring comedy segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2014. Snoop Dogg spoke over animal footage in a style that parodied the formal tone of nature documentaries, including the BBC’s Planet Earth. The footage shows wildlife; Snoop’s narration supplies the joke rather than a factual account of animal behavior.

An ABC page for a February 2015 caribou installment introduced Snoop as a musician who had a YouTube show called GGN and knew the animal kingdom. That was the program’s promotional wording, not independent evidence of zoological expertise. Watch the caribou segment on ABC.
Why the clips work as comedy
The central joke is the mismatch between dramatic wildlife footage and Snoop’s conversational commentary: slang, unexpected reactions and casual misidentifications turn a familiar documentary setup into a comic performance. In a 2014 report, TIME quoted him reacting to a seal: “This is a seal. What’s he doing acting like a dolphin?” TIME’s report captures the bit’s mix of wildlife imagery and offhand humor.

Entertainment Tonight’s 2014 coverage printed another reaction, to shark footage: “Dayum. Look how big he is cuz?!” Entertainment Tonight’s segment report presents the line as part of the joke, not as documentary narration.
BGR’s 2016 examples ranged from frogs and squirrels to a seal and penguin, otters and a crocodile, and caribou. BGR’s roundup called the series addictive, but that wording is an expression of enthusiasm—not a scientific finding or a verified audience ranking.

How Plizzanet Earth led to Planet Snoop
In 2016, Snoop’s nature-video commentary continued in a separate web series called Planet Snoop, reported as a spin-off on Merry Jane. The launch coverage said its first episode paired a California ground squirrel with a snake. Entertainment Tonight’s March 2016 report said a petition supporting the show had passed 60,000 signers by then; that is a dated snapshot, not a current total.
Earlier that year, TIME reported more than 11,000 signatures as of the morning of January 29. TIME’s January 2016 report records the earlier count. The figures refer to separate moments and publications, so they should not be merged into a single tally.

Snoop Dogg’s Planet Earth II lizard-chase narration
The format later returned to the Planet Earth franchise. In 2017, Capital XTRA covered a clip in which Snoop narrated the famous lizard-and-snakes chase from Planet Earth II. Read Capital XTRA’s report on the clip.
The lizard chase is still a wildlife sequence from the documentary; adding Snoop’s voice changes it into a comedy remix. His narration should not be used as a guide to the animals, their behavior or the events shown.

Is it really “the internet’s most addictive” video series?
That phrase is a playful description, not a substantiated superlative. The dated petition figures show that the idea attracted support, but they are not video-view totals, a measure of repeat viewing or evidence of a clinical effect. The available reports establish the format’s history and appeal to fans, not an objective “most addictive” status.
