Adria English’s July 3, 2024 civil lawsuit accused Sean Combs and others of sex trafficking and sexual assault tied to parties and related events between 2004 and 2009. Those claims are allegations in a complaint, not findings by a court. Combs’s attorney denied them.
What did Adria English’s lawsuit allege?
English’s complaint described alleged conduct connected with parties in the Hamptons and Florida during a period spanning 2004–2009. Contemporary reporting summarized her claims as alleging that she was used for the pleasure and financial benefit of others. The allegations are English’s claims; the filing of a lawsuit does not establish that they are true. ABC News’ timeline identifies the complaint and its filing date, while Hespress English’s July 4, 2024 report describes the allegations.

How did Combs respond?
In the contemporary report, Combs’s attorney Jonathan Davis denied that Combs had sexually assaulted or sex-trafficked anyone. Davis said: “No matter how many lawsuits are filed it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone.” This was the defense position, not a judicial determination. Hespress English reported the statement on July 4, 2024.
What is known about the case’s procedural status?
A 2025 Washington Post tracker listed English-Marcey v. Combs at the motion-to-dismiss stage. That is a historical snapshot, not confirmation of the case’s status on October 8, 2026. The sources available here do not establish whether it was later dismissed, decided, or remains pending.

- From music mogul to controversy, Sean Combs' life is full of highs and lows, but the central mystery remains: What did Diddy do?
How is this different from the federal criminal case?
English’s lawsuit is a civil proceeding. The federal criminal charges against Combs were a separate matter and do not, by themselves, prove or resolve the claims in her complaint. The U.S. Department of Justice described the allegations in its indictment as allegations; its announcement concerns that separate criminal proceeding, not a finding about English’s civil claims. The DOJ announcement makes that distinction relevant when considering the two cases.
