His public explanation was: “Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs, consistent with the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice.” Ricco said the reasons for his request were protected by attorney-client privilege. What Ricco said about Combs’ defense and the schedule
Ricco said he had discussed the request with lead counsel Marc Agnifilo. He represented that withdrawing would not delay jury selection, trial, or pretrial briefing, and that five other attorneys of record would continue representing Combs.
