News, which said authorities confirmed the search to TODAY. The report did not disclose what investigators were looking for or whether anything was found. A search is an investigative step; by itself, it does not establish that Annie was suspected of wrongdoing.
What was reported about the February 7 search
Nancy Guthrie is the missing person at the center of the investigation. Savannah and Annie Guthrie are her daughters. E! News reported that authorities searched Nancy’s property again and Annie’s nearby home on February 7, 2026, attributing confirmation of the searches to authorities speaking to TODAY. E! News report
The account does not describe the purpose or scope of the search at Annie’s home, identify anything investigators may have sought, or report any results. It also does not say that a warrant was used there. Those details should not be inferred from the fact that a search occurred.
A search does not establish suspicion or guilt
A home search is a reported investigative action, not proof that its resident committed a crime or was considered a suspect. The available account provides no basis to characterize Annie Guthrie as a suspect or to draw conclusions about her involvement in her mother’s disappearance.

How later investigative activity differs
Subsequent reports described other investigative steps, which should not be confused with the February 7 search of Annie’s home.
- February 10–12, 2026: The Associated Press reported a court-authorized search at a location in Rio Rico, a person who was detained and later released, and continued canvassing in the neighborhood where Annie lived. AP also reported that investigators asked residents within two miles of Nancy’s home to share security-camera footage from the month before she disappeared. - September 29, 2026: AP reported that authorities considered a possible ransom note that surfaced over the weekend not credible. The sheriff’s department advised the public to report messages and watch for scams. This was a later case update, not an explanation of the February search. AP report on the possible ransom note
What the reporting does—and does not—say
The reported search establishes that authorities searched Annie Guthrie’s nearby home during the investigation on February 7, 2026. The account does not establish why they searched it, what they examined, whether they recovered anything, or whether Annie was suspected of wrongdoing. Later canvassing, footage requests, and the Rio Rico search are separate reported actions.
