The principal actors in Selena went on to work across film, television and music, but the available career snapshots are dated rather than a complete account of where everyone is in 2026. Gregory Nava’s biographical film opened in 1997, with Jennifer Lopez playing Selena Quintanilla and an ensemble portraying her family and husband. Here are the main cast members and documented later-career examples, with the dates of those updates made clear.
Who played whom in Selena?
Gregory Nava directed Selena, which the AFI Catalog dates to March 21, 1997, and lists at 127 minutes. Apple TV describes the same runtime as 2 hours 7 minutes. AFI Catalog · Apple TV

What later work is documented for the cast?
A Univision retrospective published for the film’s 25th anniversary in 2022 highlighted selected later credits. Those examples show work after Selena; they should not be mistaken for each actor’s latest project or a report of their status in 2026. Univision’s 2022 retrospective

Jennifer Lopez
Lopez later continued a career in both music and screen acting. Univision’s 2022 retrospective cites the film Maid in Manhattan as one example of her subsequent screen work. That dated example does not establish her most recent work.
Edward James Olmos
Olmos continued appearing in screen productions after playing Selena’s father. The 2022 Univision retrospective points to Blade Runner 2049 as one later credit; it is an example, not a current-project update.

Jacob Vargas
Vargas went on to a broad film and television career. Univision’s retrospective names Clueless and The Mentalist among his later credits, without presenting either as his latest work.

Jon Seda, Jackie Guerra and other cast members
The cited retrospective does not provide a comparable, dated career update for every member of the principal cast. It would be misleading to infer current work or personal whereabouts for Seda, Guerra, Ontiveros or Meza from the film’s credits alone. The evidence summarized here supports identifying their roles, not making a 2026 claim about their careers.

Netflix Tudum published a feature on November 17, 2025 about Selena y Los Dinos, a documentary that tells Selena’s story from the perspective of her family band and discusses interviews with family members. Tudum describes Chris Pérez as Selena’s widower. This renewed attention concerns Selena and her family; it is not an update on actor Jon Seda, who played Pérez in the 1997 film. For a later reflection specifically on Nava’s movie, the Los Angeles Times revisited the film in a feature published March 30, 2025. It reported that the movie grossed over $35 million upon release. That figure is the newspaper’s report, rather than a box-office database figure established here. Los Angeles Times, March 30, 2025
How to read “where are they now?” claims
A career roundup answers this question only as well as its date and sourcing allow. The 2022 anniversary article is useful for selected examples of work after the film, while a later first-party interview or an official filmography would be stronger evidence for an actor’s more recent projects. The sources cited here do not establish a complete 2026 career report or anyone’s private residence, so the safest answer is about documented work rather than personal whereabouts.
