In January 2023, a judge found him incompetent to stand trial; a separate ruling later that year addressed his care and release conditions, not whether the charges were true.
What did the court documents say?
The 2020 felony complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court case BA488059 set out prosecutors’ allegations count by count, using Jane Doe identifiers and listing alleged dates, offense labels and California Penal Code provisions. Among the charges described in the reproduced pages were forcible rape, sexual battery by restraint, and sexual penetration by force or an intoxicating substance. A complaint is an accusation filed to begin or pursue a criminal case; it is not a judge’s finding that the alleged conduct occurred. Read the complaint.
Later reporting described additional procedural details and counts at different stages. CBS reported in August 2021 that Jeremy pleaded not guilty to charges that included forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual battery by restraint, sexual penetration and lewd-act counts. CBS and Bay City News Service reported 21 alleged victims in 2023; the Associated Press that year described a 34-count indictment, including 12 rape counts. What did witnesses reportedly testify about?
The Associated Press reported on accounts of grand-jury transcript testimony in which women and girls said Jeremy lured them into secluded areas and assaulted them. The reported accounts often concerned a bathroom at a West Hollywood bar and grill. This is AP’s description of testimony transcripts, not a direct review of the full transcripts here, and testimony remains an account given by a witness rather than a finding of guilt. Why was Jeremy found incompetent to stand trial?
On January 17, 2023, Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Harris found Jeremy incompetent to stand trial after reviewing reports from both the prosecution and defense. AP reported that Harris described Jeremy as suffering from “incurable neurocognitive decline” and said recovery was unlikely. The ruling concerned Jeremy’s ability to participate in a trial; it did not decide whether he committed the charged offenses, acquit him, or convict him. Read AP’s report on the ruling.
What did the November 2023 release ruling decide?
Six accusers testified at a November 2023 hearing opposing Jeremy’s release to a private residence. On November 30, the Los Angeles Times reported that Judge Robert Harrison upheld a placement requiring a male caregiver to monitor Jeremy at all times and requiring him not to leave the premises. The judge reportedly said Jeremy could not be restored to competency and had not been convicted. At the hearing, Jane Doe 16 said, “I have zero doubt that he is a danger to the public, dementia or not … he may have been deemed incompetent to stand trial, that does not mean he’s not competent to reoffend.” That was an accuser’s statement in court, not a judicial finding. The Times reported her statement.
Was Ron Jeremy convicted?
No conviction is established in the cited reporting. Jeremy pleaded not guilty, and the reports used here say he had not been convicted. The competency decision halted the path to trial at that point; it did not resolve the charges on their merits.

Where is Ron Jeremy now?
The latest disposition established by the sources cited here is the November 2023 ruling allowing placement at a private residence under the stated monitoring and stay-on-premises conditions. Those sources do not verify whether later hearings changed his placement or the case status, so they do not establish his current location or present-day legal status.
