Its central hook is the bond between Orion Pax and D-16 before they become Optimus Prime and Megatron—former friends whose paths lead them to become sworn enemies.
When the Transformers One trailer came out at Comic-Con
The trailer was presented during the Paramount Pictures: Transformers One panel in Hall H on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Hasbro’s July 17 event announcement had scheduled the hour-long panel for 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and promised a discussion and exclusive footage with cast and filmmakers. Hasbro’s SDCC announcement documented the planned event; ComicBook.com’s report from July 25 confirmed that a new trailer was released from the panel.
What the trailer’s story is about
Paramount describes Transformers One as the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Its official synopsis says they were “once were friends bonded like brothers” before becoming sworn enemies and changing Cybertron’s fate. The “doomed friendship” framing describes the relationship’s known destination; it is not wording used by the official synopsis.
The film follows the characters before those familiar identities: Orion Pax becomes Optimus Prime, while D-16 becomes Megatron. That shift makes their friendship more than backstory: it is the relationship at the center of the origin story.
