Rick Springfield said a whole-body MRI revealed brain damage that he believes came from a stage fall in Las Vegas in 2000. He described falling about 25 feet and striking his head more than once. The reports of his remarks do not include the MRI report or independent medical confirmation, so the finding remains Springfield’s account.
What Rick Springfield said the MRI showed
In an interview published March 10, 2025, Springfield said a recent scan had disclosed brain damage he connected to the old accident. As quoted in People’s interview reproduced by Yahoo, he said: “I thought I had just broken my wrist, but on the scan I found out I have some brain damage from the fall, so I’m working on trying to repair that.” Yahoo’s account identifies the scan as a Prenuvo whole-body MRI. Yahoo’s reproduction of the People interview and the Los Angeles Times report both describe the disclosure.
That is a report of Springfield’s own description, not a published clinical finding. The coverage does not provide his scan report, medical records, or an independent clinician’s interpretation.
How he described the Las Vegas fall
Springfield said the accident happened during a Las Vegas performance in 2000. He estimated the fall at about 25 feet and described several impacts: “I fell 25 feet, hit my head and then wood came down and hit my head, and then my head hit the stage again.” The height and sequence are his recollection as reported in the 2025 interview coverage; the sources do not establish the precise concert date or venue.

He said he initially thought he had broken his wrist. A later account says doctors also initially thought that was the injury, but the reports do not include contemporaneous medical records to verify the diagnosis at the time.
What he later added about the stunt
In a TODAY interview recapped by AOL on July 10, 2025, Springfield added that a mid-show stunt involved a gravity-fed harness and a beam that, in his recollection, “wasn’t tied off.” This is his account as relayed by the outlet, not a separately verified investigation into the stage equipment. What is—and is not—known about recovery
Springfield said he was “working on trying to repair” the damage, but the cited coverage does not name a treatment, explain what “repair” means medically, or give a prognosis. His statement should not be taken as evidence that a particular therapy, product, or scan can repair brain damage. The interviews also discussed his exercise, diet, alcohol use, and history of depression; those personal details are not presented as treatment for a brain injury.
