Rick Riordan hopes to publish the third and final Percy Jackson Senior Year Adventures book in late 2027. In an update dated September 17, 2026, he said he was deep into revisions and hoped to finish work by the end of 2026. That is an author target, not a confirmed publication date; no title or exact release date was announced.
What Rick Riordan said about the release
In his September 17, 2026 update, Riordan wrote: “I am now deep into the revisions for the third and final Percy Jackson senior adventure book. My hope is to wrap up work by the end of 2026 so we can get this published in late 2027, but I will keep you posted!”
The key word is “hope”: late 2027 is the schedule Riordan is aiming for, not a firm date set by a publisher. His end-of-2026 milestone refers to finishing his work, not the book’s release.
Which Percy Jackson book is the finale?
It is the third novel in the Senior Year Adventures trilogy, rather than a newly announced sixth book in Percy Jackson’s original five-book arc. Riordan’s official series catalog lists The Chalice of the Gods as book six and Wrath of the Triple Goddess as book seven. Those are the first two Senior Year Adventures books; the forthcoming novel will complete the set.
#1 Best Overall
- Complete 7-book collection featuring Percy Jackson's adventures through Greek mythology by bestselling author Rick Riordan
- Includes all major titles from Lightning Thief through Greek Gods and Greek Heroes
- Follow Percy's journey as the son of Poseidon battling monsters and saving Olympus in this beloved fantasy series
Why has the third book taken longer?
In a May 12, 2026 interview, Riordan said the third Senior Year Adventures novel had a first draft, but the Camp Half-Blood project had moved ahead of it. He said coordinating that project with four other authors took time. By September, he had moved into revisions on the Percy book.
The Camp Half-Blood novels are a separate project, not part of the Senior Year Adventures trilogy. Riordan described them as stories set between The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters. The first, The Wild Zone, was listed for release in the US and UK on September 29, 2026; other territories may have different dates.
What is still unconfirmed?
- Exact publication date: Riordan has expressed a late-2027 target, but no firm date was announced in the September update.
- Book title: The final novel’s title has not been announced in that update.
- Release information by country: Riordan says he usually receives date information for the US, Canada and UK. Readers elsewhere should check with local booksellers or their country’s publisher, as he advises in his FAQ.
Will it be Percy’s last narrated adventure?
In May, Riordan said, “Yes, as far as I’m planning right now, that book will be the last Percy Jackson-narrated adventure.” That describes his plan at the time and specifically refers to Percy-narrated adventures; it is not a categorical statement about every possible future appearance of the character.

The two published books in this trilogy are The Chalice of the Gods, followed by Wrath of the Triple Goddess. They provide the route into the final Senior Year Adventures novel, but neither is the unreleased third book.
