The YouTube TV blackout of ESPN, ABC and other Disney channels is over. Disney announced a multi-year distribution agreement on November 14, 2025, and said restoration had begun; YouTube TV said channels and previously saved recordings would return during the day. The dispute temporarily removed a broad group of Disney networks and affected some YouTube TV add-ons, but it should not be described as an active blackout now.
What happened to Disney channels on YouTube TV?
The previous distribution agreement expired, and Disney content was suspended on YouTube TV on October 30, 2025. On November 14, Disney announced a new multi-year agreement and said its full suite of networks and stations had begun returning. YouTube TV said ABC, ESPN and FX would return over the course of that day, along with recordings subscribers had saved in their Libraries. YouTube’s November 14 update and Disney’s agreement announcement describe the restoration.
The announcements do not establish that every local station or subscriber account updated at exactly the same time. If a channel is still missing, check the account and the local channel lineup rather than assuming the nationwide dispute is ongoing; the announcements do not document individual access problems.
Which channels and features were affected?
The October 2025 outage extended well beyond ESPN and ABC. The Associated Press reported that these Disney networks disappeared from YouTube TV:

- FX: FX, FXX and FXM.
The AP also reported effects on YouTube TV add-ons, including 4K Plus and Spanish Plus. The subsequent agreement covers Disney’s full linear portfolio, including all ESPN networks, ABC, Disney-branded channels, Freeform, FX Networks and National Geographic channels. The AP’s October 30 report lists the channels and affected add-ons.
Why did YouTube TV and Disney disagree?
The companies offered opposing explanations for the failed negotiations. YouTube said Disney’s proposed terms would raise prices and reduce customer choice. Disney said YouTube had refused fair rates and sought below-market terms. Those were the companies’ negotiating positions, not independently established findings. YouTube’s update and Disney’s statement provide each company’s account.

In its October 31 statement, Disney also cited Nielsen figures to argue that its programming mattered to YouTube TV viewers: Disney said viewership of its networks in YouTube TV households had grown more than 15% year over year, based on gross minutes viewed dating back to 2020. Disney also said ESPN was the leading cable network among adults 18–49 on YouTube TV from October 2024 through September 2025. These are figures Disney presented with Nielsen attribution, not an independent recalculation. Disney’s October 31 statement includes the figures and their stated scope.
What did the new agreement include?
Beyond restoring linear channels, Disney said the multi-year deal included several additional distribution options. These were announced terms; their availability may depend on the particular YouTube TV offer or package.

Disney’s announcement describes the agreement’s offerings; it does not establish that every option is available to every subscriber under every offer. Check the current YouTube TV account and offer details for applicable access and package terms. Read Disney’s agreement announcement.
What to check if a channel is still missing
- Confirm you are signed into the YouTube TV account that has the subscription, then check the account’s live guide and Library.
- Look up the local ABC station for your area in YouTube TV’s lineup. The restoration announcement does not guarantee that every station appears identically in every market.
- Check whether the missing channel is part of your subscription or an add-on, especially if the issue involves 4K Plus or Spanish Plus.
- If saved programming is missing, check the Library. YouTube said previous recordings would return as channels were restored, but did not specify a separate timeline for each account.
- If the lineup still differs from what you expect, consult YouTube TV support with the channel name and your location.
What were the alternatives during the blackout?
During the 2025 outage, reports pointed viewers toward ESPN’s direct streaming service, other Disney services such as Hulu and Disney+, alternative live-TV providers and over-the-air broadcast reception. Disney named DirecTV, Fios, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Spectrum and Xfinity, and directed viewers to KeepMyNetworks.com for area-specific options. Those were alternatives cited during the blackout, not confirmation of current channel lineups or prices.

Before switching providers now, compare the options against what you actually watch:
- Whether your local ABC station is available at your address.
- Whether the sports channels you need—such as ESPN, SEC Network or ACC Network—are included.
- Which other Disney networks are in the lineup.
- The current monthly total, including add-ons, and whether a promotional price changes later.
- How long the offer lasts and the provider’s cancellation terms.
An over-the-air antenna may receive local ABC where a usable broadcast signal reaches your home, but it does not provide ESPN or the wider Disney cable lineup. Broadcast reception varies by address; the AP’s reference to antenna reception does not establish that a signal is available at any particular home.
