The first behind-the-scenes preview of Stranger Things Season 5 arrived in July 2024, when filming was roughly halfway complete. It showed returning cast members on Atlanta soundstages and offered glimpses of the final season’s production—but it did not reveal plot outcomes or confirm fan theories.
When did Netflix share the Season 5 footage?
Netflix and the Duffer Brothers shared the preview in July 2024. Contemporary coverage dated it to 15–16 July and described filming as having reached the halfway point. NME reported that production had begun in January 2024 and that the season was planned to have eight episodes; both figures describe the production plan reported at the time, not a current availability schedule. Which new cast members were identified?
The preview coverage named Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux as additions to the cast. Hot Press reported that their roles had not been disclosed at the time. Their inclusion in the footage therefore does not, on its own, establish which characters they play or how they fit into the story.

What does “the season fans have been waiting for” mean?
Hot Press attributed the line “This is the season fans have been waiting for” to the Duffer Brothers. It is a promotional remark, not independent evidence of audience consensus or a confirmed description of the season’s plot or quality. The footage itself supports a narrower conclusion: filming was underway, familiar performers were returning, and the production was sharing a behind-the-scenes look.
Does the footage contain spoilers?
