Sugar Season 1 is an eight-episode mystery drama about Los Angeles private investigator John Sugar, played by Colin Farrell, who is hired to find Olivia Siegel, the missing granddaughter of Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. The search leads into the Siegel family’s secrets—and into a mystery connected to Sugar himself.
What is Sugar about?
Sugar returns to Los Angeles after solving a case in Japan and takes on Olivia’s disappearance. The investigation brings him into the orbit of Olivia’s family and Melanie Mackintosh, while clues suggest that the case reaches beyond a straightforward missing-person search. Apple TV Press describes the story as involving Siegel family secrets, some recent and others long-buried.

Apple TV Press frames the series as a contemporary take on the private-detective story. That makes the show’s appeal a combination of investigator-led mystery, Hollywood connections and family intrigue. Its central premise is best approached without spoilers: the case develops in ways that complicate what Sugar—and the viewer—can assume about the people around him.
