Win or Lose, Pixar Animation Studios’ first original long-form animated series, premiered on Disney+ on February 19, 2025. The eight-episode comedy follows a co-ed middle school softball team in the week before its championship game, revisiting that week through different characters’ perspectives.
When did Win or Lose arrive on Disney+?
Disney’s press kit dates the premiere to February 19, 2025. The announced rollout began with two episodes that day, with new episodes starting February 26. Disney noted that availability could vary by region and that its schedule could change, so access depends on the local Disney+ catalog. Disney’s February 2025 schedule carried that regional-availability notice.

What is Pixar’s Win or Lose about?
The Pickles are a co-ed middle school softball team preparing for a championship game. Rather than telling the week as one continuous account from a single lead character, the series shifts its point of view among players and people around the team. Pixar describes episodes as exploring the off-field lives of a player, a parent, or an umpire, showing how the same events can look different to each person. Pixar’s series page outlines the premise.
Disney’s episode descriptions offer glimpses of those stories: Laurie’s insecurity takes the form of a sentient blob; umpire Frank keeps his personal life guarded; catcher Rochelle faces financial pressure; and single mother Vanessa has her own challenges. Other entries follow Ira at his sister’s games, pitcher Yuwen confronting a younger version of herself, and Kai enjoying new teammates while facing an injury. The last episode is titled “Home.” These brief official summaries sketch the range of viewpoints without giving a full account of each plot.

How many episodes are there, and how long are they?
The official Disney project profile lists eight episodes, and the current Disney+ title listing shows one season with eight episode entries. Pixar and Disney’s production brief describes them as 20-minute episodes. That is a production description, not an exact total runtime; individual episode durations are not established by these sources. Disney+’s title page lists the series and its episodes.
What makes the series different?
One week, several points of view
The central game connects the episodes, but the changing focus is the storytelling engine. A moment that seems straightforward to one person may feel very different to another. Executive producer Lindsey Collins said the creators’ concept stood out because it lent itself to episodic storytelling. The result is a team story that makes room for players and people beyond the field, rather than treating the championship as the only thing that matters.
Feelings shape the animation
The production brief says the artists use fantasy and metaphor to make a character’s inner experience visible. Noah Klocek, the production designer, described character-specific “perspective views” that convey how each person sees the world. One example is Laurie’s insecurity becoming a blob. The brief also describes detached facial features for expressive poses and a 2D pipeline integrated with the 3D world in some sequences. These are elements of the show’s visual approach, not a claim that the techniques are new to animation.
A softball setting grounded in familiar places
Klocek described the setting as “Everytown, U.S.A.” and said the designs drew on recognizable softball fields and locations. That familiar backdrop gives the characters’ individual stories a shared place to unfold.

Who made Win or Lose?
Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates directed, wrote, and executive produced the series; David Lally produced it. It was made by Pixar Animation Studios. The production brief also describes the project as requiring a reconsidered workflow for eight streaming episodes, from crew size to the show’s look.
