Why do some reports say September 18, 2026?
September 18 was the date first announced by Warner Bros. on May 6, 2025—not the current North American date. In the announcement, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock delivered a short incantation ending with “Sept. 18, 2026,” as ABC News transcribed it. That original date was subsequently replaced by the September 10 North American date.
What is Practical Magic 2 about?
The sequel returns to the world of the Owens sisters, Sally and Gillian, played again by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. Warner Bros. describes a dark curse threatening their family. Susanne Bier directs, with a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel. The official cast list also includes Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, Solly McLeod, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing. See Warner Bros.’ film page for the studio’s description and credits.

Is the sequel based on a book?
Warner Bros. identifies Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic as the source novel. The Associated Press notes that Hoffman’s 1995 novel Practical Magic inspired the original film, while The Book of Magic, published in 2021, continues the Owens family story and inspired the sequel. The film should not be assumed to follow the book scene for scene. The AP report provides context on the books and the stars’ return.
