What is the new Zelda game?
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Nintendo announced a new story in which people across Hyrule are disappearing into strange rifts. Princess Zelda takes the lead, using the Tri Rod to make “echoes”—imitations of objects and monsters—that can help solve puzzles and fight enemies. Nintendo announced a September 26, 2024 release for Nintendo Switch. That date has passed. Nintendo’s June 18, 2024 recap describes the game and its announcement-time release date.
What did Nintendo show for Metroid Prime 4?
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Nintendo showed the first gameplay glimpse of Samus Aran’s new mission and announced a 2025 release window for Nintendo Switch. That was the window stated during the June 2024 presentation; the announcement recap does not establish the game’s current release status. Nintendo’s recap is the source for what was shown and when Nintendo then expected the game.

Which Nintendo Direct does this headline refer to?
This headline matches the June 18, 2024 presentation: Nintendo’s official recap names Echoes of Wisdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Super Mario Party Jamboree, and a contemporaneous third-party recap used closely matching headline wording. Nintendo’s official recap is the primary source for the announcements. Nintendo also held a June 2021 E3 presentation with Zelda, Metroid and Mario Party news, but it featured different titles and content; it is not the event described here. Nintendo’s June 2021 E3 recap provides that historical distinction.
