The “hit” in the headline was Under Paris, whose strong global debut was confirmed in a separate Netflix weekly report. The ranking is historical, not a current chart.
What was in the June 6, 2024 top 10?
BGR’s list, in order, was:
- Under Paris — identified by BGR as a Netflix Original
- Godzilla Minus One
- 300: Rise of an Empire
- The Lego Movie
- Home
- Divergent
- A Million Ways to Die in the West
- Colors of Evil: Red — identified by BGR as a Netflix Original
- Shrek
- The Super Mario Bros. Movie
BGR describes Under Paris as a French shark-attack film directed by Xavier Gens. Its story follows a scientist, a conservationist and a police commander trying to stop a mutant shark during the World Triathlon Championships in Paris. BGR’s June 6 article does not state the country or metric behind its ordering, so the list should be read as that publication’s dated chart, not as a precisely defined global Netflix ranking.

Why was Under Paris called a hit?
Netflix’s official report for the week of June 3, 2024, provides a separate measure of its performance: Under Paris debuted at No. 1 on the global Non-English Films list with 40.9 million views. That is strong evidence for the headline’s characterization, but it is not the same chart or measurement window as BGR’s June 6 list.
In the same weekly report, Richard Linklater’s Hit Man led Netflix’s global English Films list with 10.8 million views in its first three days. The figure refers specifically to that title’s first three days, not a full week of viewing. Netflix’s weekly Top 10 explains that its lists rank titles by hours viewed over Monday through Sunday and are published on Tuesday; its June 11 report gives the view figures for the week of June 3. Why the two rankings cannot be directly compared
The charts describe popularity differently. BGR gives a June 6 ordering without stating its geography, metric or methodology. Netflix’s report is explicitly global, separates English and non-English films, and reports viewing for a Monday–Sunday week. Netflix also notes that title availability can vary by region.
As a result, the June 6 positions and Netflix’s 40.9 million figure offer complementary context, not a like-for-like comparison. A sound comparison of rankings needs the same chart owner, geography, category, time period and metric. Neither list establishes that every country or audience responded in the same way.
