“Wild” Bill Wichrowski was not part of Deadliest Catch Season 21, but the reason for his absence was not confirmed in the reporting available. His prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment were public before the 2025 season, yet that timeline alone does not establish that cancer kept him off the show. Warner Bros. Discovery later announced his participation in Season 22.
Was Wild Bill Wichrowski in Deadliest Catch Season 21?
No. A Discovery Channel representative told The Cheat Sheet that Wichrowski would not appear in Season 21, the series’ 2025 season. The season premiered on August 1, 2025, according to TV Guide’s episode guide.
Why was he absent?
The specific reason has not been confirmed in the reporting reviewed. Wichrowski had left Season 20 early after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, making his health relevant context, but it would be inaccurate to state that his diagnosis or treatment caused his Season 21 absence.
What had Wichrowski said about his health?
In a February 2025 update quoted by TV Insider, Wichrowski said his treatment included radioactive seeds and hormone treatment and that his numbers were good. He wrote, “Happy to say numbers are great,” and, “I seem to be cancer-free now.” Those were his statements at that time, not a current medical assessment or an explanation of the casting decision.
