The band announced an eight-minute break for sound issues, but two reports say she returned after about an hour. The concert had already been moved from its originally listed RAC Arena date to the smaller Metro City venue.
What happened during AQUA’s Perth concert?
The show began with a screen mistakenly welcoming the crowd with “Hello Adelaide!”, according to a live review. AQUA opened with “Cartoon Heroes.” During a later song, Nystrom removed her earpiece and walked offstage while the other members continued with “Back to the 80s.”

René Dif told the audience there were sound issues and that the band would return after an eight-minute break, the reviewer reported. Mix94.5 breakfast producer Shelby Brady, whose account was quoted by PerthNow, also said the band promised an eight-minute pause. Brady later wrote: “Can confirm it wasn’t 8 minutes. It was an hour!” The live reviewer likewise said AQUA returned after almost an hour.
What was reported about Nystrom’s absence?
The reviewer described Nystrom returning in tears and dressed casually, and said she appeared to be recovering from what looked like a panic attack. PerthNow’s account of Brady’s report says Nystrom cited a “panic attack.” These are an observer’s impression and an attributed report, not a confirmed diagnosis: the accounts do not include a direct explanation from Nystrom.

How did the concert continue?
After the interruption, the reviewer described the remaining set as reduced and strained, with missed vocals and moments when Nystrom let the audience sing. Songs listed in the review included “Around the World,” “My Oh My,” “Good Morning Sunshine,” “Turn Back Time,” “Barbie Girl,” “Lollipop” and “Doctor Jones.” The reviewer also reported that some attendees began leaving before the encore.
Why was the Perth show moved to Metro City?
AQUA had originally been listed to play RAC Arena on March 28, 2024. The concert instead took place at Metro City on March 21. The Music reported that the Australian tour’s venues and dates changed and that its originally announced multi-artist lineup was reduced to AQUA, with 2 Unlimited as the special guest.

In a statement quoted by The Music, AQUA said: “With the current climate for festivals and tours the way it is, the tour has been moved into new venues, and the dates have been changed slightly to make sure the shows still go ahead.” PerthNow separately characterized the Perth venue move as a response to “underwhelming demand”; that wording is PerthNow’s account, not the band’s quoted explanation.
