Secrets We Keep has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score—but that figure represents eight reviews, not a measure of how many people watched the series or how widely it is being discussed. The six-episode Danish mystery follows the disappearance of a Filipino au pair in a wealthy Copenhagen-area neighborhood, using the case to probe class, race, privilege and domestic labor.
What is Secrets We Keep about?
Secrets We Keep is the English-language title of the Danish series Reservatet. When Ruby, a Filipino au pair, disappears from an affluent community north of Copenhagen, the case draws in Cecilie, a neighbor, and Angel, her own au pair and Ruby’s friend. Police investigator Aicha also works the case, which reaches into the households and relationships surrounding the women.
The setup is a missing-person mystery, but the setting is central to the story. The series places suspicion inside polished homes where employers, employees and neighbors do not have equal power. Its investigation gives the show room to examine how wealth, class and race shape whose concerns are taken seriously, as well as the often-invisible work of au pairs.
Creator Ingeborg Topsøe described the appeal of that setting in Netflix’s April 23, 2025 announcement: “I enjoy experimenting with the genre because it requires the audience’s full attention, and placing a crime story in this particular setting is especially compelling.”

Why does it have 100% on Rotten Tomatoes?
At the time of writing, Rotten Tomatoes lists a 100% Tomatometer based on eight critic reviews. Its Popcornmeter audience score is 75% from more than 250 ratings. Those are separate measures: the perfect critics’ score means all eight counted reviews were positive, while the audience figure reflects a different group of ratings. Both can change as more reviews and ratings are added.
The small critics’ sample is essential context for the headline number. It is a promising critical snapshot, not evidence of a universal response, a hit ranking or a large audience. No show-specific Netflix viewing total or chart placement is established in the available figures.
Rank #2
Critics have highlighted the series’ treatment of class, race and wealth. In a May 16, 2025 review for Decider, Joel Keller wrote: “Secrets We Keep is a thriller that doesn’t try to distract viewers by sending them down too many dead ends, and tells a story about class, race and wealth in the process.” Rotten Tomatoes also surfaces a contrasting criticism that the short episode count leaves some discoveries insufficiently explored; that is one reviewer’s reaction, not a settled consensus.
Is Secrets We Keep based on a true story?
No. Netflix Tudum says the series is fictional, though its story draws on Denmark’s au pair culture. The disappearance of Ruby is the drama’s central mystery; it should not be presented as a real case.

What the 100% score does—and does not—tell you
The score points to positive reviews among a limited set of critics, while the audience rating offers a separate, less uniformly positive snapshot. Neither number alone explains the show’s appeal. For that, the useful question is what kind of thriller it is: a compact Danish mystery in which the missing-person case also exposes the social order of the neighborhood around it.
