Netflix’s March 2023 promise of “about 40 more” games was a forecast—and the company later reported that it launched 40 games during the year. The same announcement said Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 would arrive in 2024; Netflix confirmed both were available by October. Monument Valley 3 followed in December 2024, but its Netflix run was brief.
What Netflix announced in March 2023
On 20 March 2023, Netflix Vice President of External Games Leanne Loombe said the service had released 55 games, with about 40 more slated for later that year. She also reported 70 games in development with partners and 16 being made by Netflix’s in-house studios. These were separate figures: 40 was the planned 2023 release count, while 70 and 16 described development pipelines. Netflix did not name 40 specific upcoming games in that announcement. Netflix’s announcement described a broader effort to build a portfolio across genres and formats.
The post also said ustwo’s Monument Valley franchise was coming to Netflix in 2024, starting with the first two games. It did not give a specific release date.
Did Netflix launch 40 games in 2023?
Yes: in a 13 December 2023 year-end update, Netflix VP of Games Mike Verdu reported, “Launched 40 games.” The update highlighted Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, Football Manager 24 Mobile and Storyteller among that year’s releases. Netflix separately said it expected 86 games to be available by year-end and had nearly 90 more in development. Those catalogue and pipeline totals are not the same as the 40 games launched during 2023. Netflix’s year-end update gives the company’s account of the launches.

When did Monument Valley come to Netflix?
Netflix’s March 2023 post set the expectation of a 2024 arrival for Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2. In October 2024, Netflix said both were available through the service and included with memberships. Netflix’s October announcement confirms their availability then.
Monument Valley 3 was a later addition
Netflix announced the third game in August 2024, with a planned release date of 10 December. Ustwo’s release page records that Monument Valley 3 became available on Netflix Games that day. At launch, game director Jennifer Estaris said the partnership was intended to bring the game to Netflix members around the world; that statement described the launch plan, not its current availability. What happened after the Netflix releases?
Ustwo CEO Maria Sayans said in a January 2026 interview that Netflix told the studio it wanted to remove Monument Valley 3 about six months after its release. She said other games left at the same time and that she assumed the decision reflected Netflix’s changing content priorities; that was her interpretation, not a confirmed explanation from Netflix. Sayans also said ustwo reworked the game for other platforms and a premium mobile release. The interview with Mobilegamer.biz is the source for the studio’s account.
Ustwo announced Monument Valley 3 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and Steam in July 2025. Nintendo also lists Monument Valley: The Collection, a digital Switch bundle containing all three games. Store listings and availability can change, so check the relevant storefront for current access and pricing. Ustwo’s platform announcement and Nintendo’s collection listing identify those options.

Is Monument Valley still on Netflix?
The historical Netflix launch announcements do not establish that the games are playable there now. Netflix’s games catalogue page, dated 9 September 2026, describes a library of more than 120 mobile games, but that general count does not confirm that any particular Monument Valley title remains available. Check Netflix’s live catalogue for current availability. Netflix’s catalogue page is dated and subject to change.
