Perth’s City-organised New Year’s Eve celebration is scheduled for Thursday, 31 December 2026, across Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square and Supreme Court Gardens. The City’s plan lists a family-friendly fireworks display at 8:30pm and a traditional display at midnight. A separate midnight rooftop display is planned for the Northbridge restaurant and bar scene. Vienna Pops’ New Year’s Eve Gala at His Majesty’s Theatre is another confirmed event.
Perth New Year’s Eve fireworks: times and locations
The City of Perth’s 2026/27 Events Plan schedules festivities, roving performances and live entertainment across Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square and Supreme Court Gardens on 31 December 2026. It lists two main fireworks times:
- 8:30pm: a family-friendly fireworks display.
- Midnight: the traditional New Year’s Eve display.
The plan also says a short display will launch from CBD rooftops at midnight for the Northbridge restaurant and bar scene. It does not identify a specific public viewing location in Northbridge. Check the City of Perth event information for updates as the date approaches. The plan does not provide a complete performer-by-performer schedule.
Where to watch: what is confirmed for 2026
Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square and Supreme Court Gardens are the confirmed event precincts. A final 2026 viewing map has not been established in the City plan, so these precinct names are not a substitute for a precise fireworks viewing point. Check the City’s current map and event information before setting out.

Transport and practical planning
New Year’s Eve transport arrangements for 31 December 2026 have not been confirmed by the sources available. The Public Transport Authority’s notice for the previous New Year’s Eve described free Transperth travel from midnight to 6am on New Year’s Day, plus extra overnight trains and buses and ferry services after midnight; those details applied to the 2025/26 transition only. Do not rely on them for 2026/27 without a new notice. Check Transperth’s service updates closer to the event.
The City reported around 130,000 revellers in and around the CBD at the previous celebration, so busy conditions are a reasonable possibility, not a forecast for 2026. The City separately reported 58,000 attendees for its 2025 New Year’s Eve event snapshot; the sources use different labels and scopes, and do not provide enough methodology to reconcile the counts. Neither figure should be treated as a 2026 attendance estimate. The City’s previous-year report and its 2025 event snapshot and partnership information give the respective figures.
