TechCrunch reported on December 19, 2025, that Netflix was acquiring Ready Player Me. Fenwick, the law firm representing Ready Player Me in the transaction, also described the acquisition and Netflix’s plan to use the company’s development tools and infrastructure for avatars that can travel across games. Ready Player Me was an Estonia-based avatar-creation platform. Its CEO, Timmu Tõke, said the team would join Netflix and contribute cross-game avatar technology. What happened to Ready Player Me’s existing service
TechCrunch reported that Ready Player Me planned to wind down its services, including the online avatar-creation tool PlayerZero, on January 31, 2026. That report establishes the scheduled date, but does not independently confirm whether the shutdown took place as planned.
