Directed by Kate Rentz and filmed at an Arizona ranch, it places Lambert among horses, wildflowers and mirrors—imagery that fits the song’s ideas of freedom and choosing a direction. Lambert has described the pull of horses and life on the road as running toward something, not simply away from it.

What is the video about?
The video gives the song’s idea of movement a visual setting: Lambert appears around horses, wildflowers and mirrors at a ranch in Gold Canyon, Arizona. The horse featured includes Cool, Lambert’s horse, according to Nashville.com. Those images can suggest openness, reflection and a return to familiar ground, but that is an interpretation of the visuals rather than a stated plot or a definitive explanation from Lambert.
Lambert’s own explanation
In an Apple Music feature about “Run,” Lambert connected horses, Airstreams and the tour bus with pursuing a dream while holding on to home: “I think the reason that I love horses and I love Airstreams and I love the [tour] bus is because it is a way to run to something, not necessarily away from something.” Apple Music’s Postcards From Texas page

She also told Nashville.com that riding brings her a sense of freedom. She said she began riding at 30 and described mounted shooting as a new way to challenge herself and pursue feeling true to herself. These are Lambert’s comments about her own experience.
In the same Nashville.com account, which covered her appearance on Kelleigh Bannen’s Today’s Country Radio, Lambert described the song as both an apology and a resolve: “That’s what songs are for, and you may not be ready at that one time to sing about something really raw… but then it can come back around,” she said, adding that it is “an admission of human error too…It’s an apology, but it’s also a resolve.”
