The reboot returns to Elite Way School, the international boarding school associated with the original Mexican Rebelde and the band RBD. Netflix Media Center’s official logline says: “A new version of Rebelde, the iconic young adult soap opera returns to Elite way School, now EWS, the international boarding school that was the birthplace of the now legendary RBD.”

The new cast plays a new generation of students rather than the earlier series’ performers. The Colucci name carried by Luka is one visible link to that legacy; the show’s wider premise also returns to student life and music at EWS. For longtime fans, the connection is part of the setup, not a reason to confuse the two casts.

At EWS, students aim to enter the music program and compete to win the Battle of the Bands. The story also follows school relationships, friendship and romance, alongside a secret society plot. Music is therefore central to the premise, but the series is also a school drama about the students’ lives and conflicts.
Netflix currently presents Rebelde as a 2022 title with two seasons on its series hub. The catalog display can vary by region and change over time.
