Rotten Tomatoes’ ten-film “Highest-Rated Movies” list for Matthew Macfadyen ranks In My Father’s Den first, with a 100% Tomatometer. This is a ranking of films by critics’ scores—not a verdict on Macfadyen’s acting or a complete list of his best work across film and television. Audience scores break ties between films with the same Tomatometer score.
Scores below are the values displayed on Rotten Tomatoes’ Matthew Macfadyen profile as captured on October 8, 2026. They can change as ratings are added or updated.

The order follows the Tomatometer, which reflects critics’ reviews. When films share a Tomatometer score, the higher Popcornmeter score places the film first. The ratings are Rotten Tomatoes aggregates, not a measure of an individual performance’s quality.

What this ranking includes—and leaves out
Rotten Tomatoes labels the list “Highest-Rated Movies,” so it covers the ten films displayed on Macfadyen’s actor profile rather than his ten best roles across every screen credit. His television work is not ranked alongside these movies. For example, Rotten Tomatoes’ series page for Succession lists a 95% Average Tomatometer, but a series-level score is not directly comparable to a score for an individual film and is not part of this film list.
The order also reflects critics’ scores rather than a combined critics-and-audience calculation. That distinction matters most where the ratings diverge: The Assistant has 93% with critics and 25% with audiences, while Deadpool & Wolverine has 77% with critics and 94% with audiences.
