The latest reported update is about financing and studio talks—not a release date or a confirmed start of filming. On June 17, 2026, ComingSoon reported that Invisible Narratives had received $25 million in investment and that founder Adam Goodman said the company was in active conversations with studios and partners about Skibidi projects. The report said it was unclear whether the investment would fund the movie specifically.
What was the major update?
ComingSoon’s June 17, 2026 report described a financing announcement for Invisible Narratives alongside discussions with potential studios and partners. Goodman said the company was “in active conversations with a number of studios and partners.” He added: “‘Skibidi’ is one of the most globally recognized original franchises to emerge from that world, so choosing the right home is critical, and there is real momentum around that process.” ComingSoon’s report and Goodman’s comments
The $25 million was reported as investment in Invisible Narratives, not as the Skibidi Toilet movie’s budget. The report did not establish that any of the money was allocated to the film. It also said there was no official release-date window.
Is the Skibidi Toilet movie still happening?
The June 2026 report points to ongoing partner discussions around Skibidi projects, but it does not confirm a movie production milestone. The most precise description is that the project remains in development or partner discussions, as characterized in that report. It does not establish that filming has begun or that a distributor is attached. ComingSoon, June 17, 2026

Is Michael Bay directing the Skibidi Toilet movie?
That is not confirmed in the cited reporting. The Washington Post described Bay as the project’s chief creative adviser in July 2024, not as its confirmed director. In that article, Bay said: “I’ve always been a director that believes in taking risks. Audiences yearn for fresh, new ideas. With ‘Skibidi,’ it’s a new world of what the younger generation is watching, and I’m taking it very seriously.” The Washington Post, July 24, 2024
What has—and has not—been announced?
The June 2026 report does not name a release date, cast, distributor, final format, or production start. Those details should be treated as unannounced in the available reporting, rather than inferred from the financing and partnership talks.

How the YouTube series update differs from the movie news
A separate September 3, 2026 report by Cartoon Brew concerned future official YouTube episodes, not a confirmed film-production change. Invisible Narratives named a creative team for those episodes: Virlance as showrunner and animator; Strider as animation director and sound designer; FScript as producer and technical director; and Achi as lead story editor and animator. Cartoon Brew reported that original creator Alexey Gerasimov was not currently involved in developing or producing the new episodes. Invisible Narratives said his original vision remained foundational and that he retained an executive producer title. Cartoon Brew, September 3, 2026
Cartoon Brew also reported that the contract between Gerasimov and Invisible Narratives had not been made public, so its terms are unknown. The series team announcement does not establish a movie milestone.

What the earlier franchise plans covered
The Washington Post reported in July 2024 that Gerasimov and Invisible Narratives were exploring a potential film and television franchise based on the YouTube series. That report also described licensed product plans, including toys, plush, apparel, and other categories. Those were franchise merchandise plans, not evidence that movie merchandise is on sale.
