Meghan Markle compared Prince Harry to the hero of a final Super Mario Bros. level, saying he works to protect and support their family. She made the analogy during an April 28, 2025 appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show.
What Meghan Markle said about Prince Harry
In the interview, Markle praised her husband’s support and the life they have built together. “It’s not something to be taken for granted when you have a partner, a spouse, who is just so behind you. H, that man loves me so much. Look what we’ve built? We have a beautiful life, we have two healthy children.”

She then described their relationship through a video-game comparison: “I always think about it like the end of Super Mario Bros. When you get to the final final level and they say, ‘Slay the dragon, save the princess.’ I’m like, that’s my husband,”
She explained what she meant by the image: “He’s constantly going to do whatever he can to make sure that our family is safe and protected, and we’re uplifted and still make time for date nights.”

- A variety of playable characters are available, some with unique attributes that affect gameplay and platforming physics.
- Younger and less-experienced players will love playing as Toadette, who is brand new to both games, and Nabbit, who was formerly only playable in New Super Luigi U. Both characters offer extra assistance during play.
- Multiplayer sessions are even more fun, frantic, and exciting thanks to entertaining character interactions. Need a boost? Try jumping off a teammate’s head or getting a teammate to throw you.
- Features a wealth of help features, like a Hints gallery, reference videos, and a Super Guide in New Super Mario Bros. U that can complete levels for you if they’re giving you trouble.
- Three additional modes—Boost Rush, Challenges, and Coin Battle—mix up gameplay and add replayability, while also upping the difficulty for players who want to try something harder. Players can use their Mii characters in these modes.
What the Super Mario Bros. analogy means
Markle used the familiar rescue scenario as a metaphor for Harry’s efforts to protect and support their family. The “dragon” and “princess” are part of her comparison, not a claim about a literal event. She did not identify a particular Super Mario Bros. game, edition, or platform.
