“I always say we’re best friends. It’s a big difference,” Snoop Dogg told Martha Stewart when she asked how he described their relationship. The exchange came in “The GOAT with Snoop Dogg,” the first episode of The Martha Stewart Podcast, published June 22, 2022.
What Snoop said about their friendship
Stewart opened the exchange with: “I always say yes, what do you say?” Snoop answered, “I always say we’re best friends. It’s a big difference.” Martha Stewart’s recap of the episode and the iHeart episode transcript both reproduce the exchange.
So, are Martha and Snoop actually friends? Snoop’s answer was an unequivocal yes. The episode also makes clear that their connection is both personal and professional: the conversation touches on their business relationship and Snoop’s life, while the listing mentions family, friendship, the cannabis industry and what it means to be a GOAT.
Which podcast episode was it?
The conversation appeared in “The GOAT with Snoop Dogg,” the first episode of The Martha Stewart Podcast. Apple Podcasts lists it as released June 22, 2022, with a runtime of 32 minutes; Apple’s episode listing also asks whether Stewart and Snoop are really friends and what they discuss off camera. iHeart lists the same release date and 32-minute runtime. Stewart’s recap describes it as a 40-minute segment, so the sources do not agree on the duration.

The date matters: Snoop made the “best friends” remark on the 2022 podcast, not in a new interview for later coverage. At the time, Stewart said the podcast was launched in partnership with iHeartRadio and available on Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming platforms. That was a 2022 availability description, not confirmation of where the episode is currently listed.
How their friendship began
Stewart’s retrospective on their friendship traces their first meeting to 2008, when she invited Snoop onto The Martha Stewart Show. They cooked mashed potatoes together, and Snoop introduced her to slang including “fo-shizzle.”

Their easygoing chemistry developed into a working partnership. They later appeared together on Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, bringing cooking and conversation to a joint television show. Stewart’s episode recap also recalls Snoop’s mother, Beverly, visiting the set. Beverly died in October 2021; Snoop remembered that she loved Stewart and appreciated seeing her son on television with her.

The podcast exchange was playful, but it fits with how both have spoken about one another. In Stewart’s retrospective, Snoop says, “I love Martha-like, I love her for real,” and calls her “the big sister I never had.” Stewart, in turn, praised his laid-back energy, outspokenness and sense of timing, and said she enjoyed watching him cook.

Their public association continued well beyond the podcast. MarthaStewart.com reported that they appeared together in Milan during the 2026 Winter Olympics, including an appearance on TODAY and NBC commentary. That later coverage shows the friendship remained part of their public story; the clearest direct answer to whether they consider themselves friends is still Snoop’s line from the 2022 episode.
