Stewart gave that answer during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, in remarks reported by Martha Stewart’s website. She added: “He helps me with my stuff, and I help him with his stuff.” Her explanation points to enjoyment, shared understanding and mutual support—not simply the contrast between their public personas.
How did Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg meet?
They first met in 2008 on The Martha Stewart Show, where Stewart invited Snoop to cook with her. A later retrospective recounts their connection over mashed potatoes and Snoop’s slang; Stewart also taught him to make creamy mashed potatoes. Martha Stewart’s 2019 account describes how the first encounter grew into an easy rapport.
They crossed paths again at the 2015 Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber. Snoop later praised Stewart’s appearance, saying she stole the show, and said he wanted to be alongside her for the rest of his life. What began as a cooking-show meeting had become a friendship they were happy to share on camera.

What has each said about their connection?
In a 2017 Television Academy interview, Snoop described their chemistry as something people could feel. He also said they had a lot in common and learned from each other, describing two people who love what they do and appreciate one another’s work.
Stewart later described their connection as fortuitous: they hit it off, had things to talk about and taught each other about their respective worlds. In a 2022 podcast episode with Stewart, Snoop called them “best friends,” adding, “I always say we’re best friends. It’s a big difference.” That label is Snoop’s description of their relationship; Stewart’s own concise explanation remains that they have fun together.
