When and where was Madonna’s free concert in Brazil?
The finale took place on May 4, 2024, at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Madonna announced it on March 25 as the final stop of The Celebration Tour and said TV Globo would broadcast the event live. The concert had free admission, with no ticket requirement and entry on a first-come, first-served basis. Madonna’s announcement called the show a thank-you to fans who had celebrated more than four decades of her music during the tour.
What happened at the show?
Associated Press reported that Madonna opened with “Nothing Really Matters” and performed songs including “Like a Virgin” and “Hung Up.” During “Live to Tell,” she presented an AIDS tribute. Brazilian performers Anitta and Pabllo Vittar joined her onstage.
Speaking to the crowd, Madonna said, “Here we are in the most beautiful place in the world,” and, “This place is magic.” The Associated Press report also described event-themed T-shirts and vendors selling Madonna-themed costumes and accessories around the beach.

How many people attended—and what do the tour figures mean?
Rio de Janeiro City Hall reported an attendance of 1.6 million. The figure is the city’s reported estimate; the available sources do not establish an independently audited headcount. City Hall also reported that 287 tonnes of waste were collected during cleanup and that medical teams handled 530 simple, low-complexity visits, with no serious cases reported. The city’s event balance is the source for those operational figures.
Pollstar reported that the tour’s 80 ticketed shows sold 1,128,657 tickets and grossed $227,247,141. Those totals cover the paid tour dates and exclude the free Rio finale; they should not be read as the concert’s ticket sales or revenue. Pollstar’s tour report provides the box-office totals.
