Was Kirsten Storms leaving General Hospital in 2025?
No. In a July 2025 announcement reported by Entertainment Weekly, Storms framed her absence as a break and said she did not want to leave the show. She said she had discussed time away with executive producer Frank Valentini and was moving to Tennessee with her daughter, Harper.

Storms said she taped her final scenes for 2025 in late June. She suggested those scenes might air in November or December, but that was a possible broadcast window—not confirmation of a specific final episode date. She also told viewers, “I promise you the storyline they have going on until my return to Port Charles is kind of incredible.”
Why was she taking time away?
Storms connected the break to her move from Los Angeles to Tennessee with Harper and to needing time to get settled. In the caption reported with her announcement, she wrote, “I can’t wait to return to GH, once Harper and I are settled in our new town.” The report describes a requested leave; it does not establish that the move was the only factor in later developments.

What did she say about her health during the break?
In an October 14, 2025 update reported by TV Insider, Storms said doctors had found a brain aneurysm on a scan in January and that she expected to undergo a surgical coiling procedure. This was health news reported during the hiatus, months after the July announcement; it should not be presented as the stated cause of her original decision to take time away.
When did Storms return, and what happened to Maxie?
A later 2026 retrospective from AOL says Storms began appearing in episodes again in February 2026. It also says Maxie Jones’s move to Australia in July 2026 became the character’s exit storyline. Those events came after the 2025 break and are distinct from Storms’s July statement that she intended to return.

What do official sources say about her current role?
ABC’s official General Hospital cast page lists Kirsten Storms as Maxie Jones and identifies Hulu as a streaming option for the series. A cast listing is an official credit, but it does not by itself establish an actor’s contract status or settle the timing of a storyline. ABC Press also named Storms among the cast in photography for an episode dated August 25, 2025 (ABC Press episode photos).

- July 9, 2025: Her temporary-break announcement and planned move to Tennessee were reported.
- August 25, 2025: ABC Press episode photography dated that day included Storms among the cast.
- October 14, 2025: TV Insider reported her health update and expected procedure.
- February 2026: The AOL retrospective says she began appearing in episodes again.
- July 2026: The same retrospective says Maxie’s move to Australia marked the character’s exit storyline.
Storms also cautioned viewers about unverified online claims: “If you don’t read about it or watch a video on it from my page, take it with a grain of salt.” Her July comments and the later reports describe different points in the story, so dates and attribution matter.
