Frampton brought out his signature talk-box effect as the two guitarists traded licks.
What Keith Urban and Peter Frampton performed
Frampton first performed “Baby (Somethin’s Happenin),” then Urban joined him for “Do You Feel Like We Do,” according to Guitar World’s October 21, 2024, report. The report describes a shortened version of Frampton’s familiar talk-box feature during the song. The Associated Press also reported that Frampton used the effect while the pair traded guitar licks.
The word “shreds” in the original headline is best read as an energetic description of a guitar performance, not a technical verdict or a contest between the two players. The reports describe a collaboration, not a “shred-off.”
Where and when the performance took place
The performance was part of the 39th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held October 19, 2024, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. The ceremony announcement from ABC and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation confirms the date and venue. Roger Daltrey of The Who presented Frampton’s induction.

Why “Do You Feel Like We Do” fit the occasion
“Do You Feel Like We Do” is closely associated with Frampton’s breakthrough live era and Frampton Comes Alive!, his landmark 1976 double album, as described in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Peter Frampton profile. The Hall credits the album and Frampton’s talk-box sound with helping bring him mainstream success. The Associated Press also linked the album to his induction and cited “Show Me the Way” and “Baby, I Love Your Way” among its hits.
Urban’s presence made the performance a meeting of Frampton’s signature song and a contemporary guitar-playing guest. Guitar World attributes this reflection on the invitation to Urban: “When he called and asked me if I’d play that song, of all songs, I was very happy to get to do it.” The same report quotes Urban praising Frampton’s feel and control of sensitivity and dynamics.
