Kim Kardashian told a Paris court on May 13, 2025, that she feared she would die when armed attackers restrained her during a 2016 robbery. She also said she forgave a defendant who sent her an apology, while making clear that the experience’s trauma remained.

What Kardashian told the court

Masked attackers entered Kardashian’s room, restrained her with zip ties, taped her mouth and took her to a bathroom, she testified. She recalled fearing both rape and death. The Associated Press reported her words: “I absolutely did think I was going to die.”

The October 2016 robbery took place in Paris. According to the AP’s May 13, 2025 report, the attackers stole jewelry valued at more than $6 million. That figure is the AP’s reported estimate, not an independently audited valuation.

Her response to an apology

Reuters reported that Kardashian was shown an apology letter from Aomar Aït Khedache, whom the report described as the alleged mastermind. She told him, “I do appreciate the letter for sure, I forgive you.”

She also stressed that forgiveness did not undo the consequences. Reuters reported her saying: “But it doesn’t change the feelings and the trauma and the fact that my life was forever changed, but I do appreciate the letter, thank you.”

What the Paris trial concerned

The Associated Press reported that the trial began April 28, 2025. Ten defendants—nine men and one woman—faced charges related to robbery and kidnapping. The AP’s trial preview said the panel consisted of six citizen jurors and three magistrates.

In that preview, the AP reported that investigators believed five of the ten defendants had been at the scene. That was an account of investigators’ belief, not a finding about each defendant. The AP also reported investigators’ theory that digital breadcrumbs, including images, timestamps and geotags, helped expose the robbery. That account should not be read as proof of every defendant’s role.

The trial was scheduled through May 23, according to the AP’s April 28 preview. That reported schedule does not, by itself, establish the trial’s final outcome.

Why the testimony came nearly nine years later

Kardashian testified on May 13, 2025, about an attack that occurred in October 2016—nearly nine years earlier. The date gap is the interval between the robbery and her testimony, not evidence that the robbery happened in 2017.
