Jessica Biel’s 2025 interviews around Prime Video’s The Better Sister touched on more than the thriller: she discussed the show’s collaborative set, her interest in how people behave under pressure, and what husband Justin Timberlake has taught her about parenting their sons. The remarks came from separate interviews, so each is attributed to the outlet that published it.
What is The Better Sister about?
The Better Sister is an eight-episode limited series adapted from Alafair Burke’s 2019 novel. It premiered on Prime Video on May 29, 2025, according to the Television Academy. Biel plays Chloe, a successful editor-in-chief; Elizabeth Banks plays her estranged sister, Nicky, who is struggling with sobriety and a traumatic past.
The sisters are pulled back into each other’s lives by a murder and the family secrets surrounding it. The Los Angeles Times interview describes the fuller premise: Chloe’s husband, Adam, is murdered, and Nicky and Adam’s son, Ethan, is arrested. That setup makes the series a family drama as well as a mystery, with the sisters’ history shaping how they face the crisis.
What did Biel say about making the series?
Biel and Banks both star in and executive-produce the adaptation. The Television Academy described a warm, collaborative production and highlighted the two actors’ rapport. Biel called the set “not a rigid place to work at all; it was so warm and fuzzy and wonderful.” The Academy’s feature also quoted executive producer and co-showrunner Regina Corrado observing, “The cruelty among siblings is very real.”

In the Los Angeles Times conversation, Biel described her interest in people’s motives with the question, “Why do humans do the things that they do?” She connected that curiosity to people protecting themselves and their children when they are under pressure—a natural fit for a story built around fractured family ties and a murder investigation.
What did Biel say about Justin Timberlake and parenting?
In an interview at the series premiere published by Access Hollywood on May 21, 2025, Biel said Timberlake had taught her to use humor when parenting their sons. “I think he has taught me how to deal with our kids, like with a sense of humor,” she said, describing humor as a way to shift the mood when a child’s upset feels overwhelming.

She also called him “a great listener” and “a great advice giver.” Access Hollywood identifies their two sons as Silas and Phineas. These are Biel’s attributed comments in that interview, not independent reporting on the family’s private life.
What else was Biel discussing during the series launch?
A separate ELLE interview published May 29, 2025 connected the show’s launch with Prophet + Poet, Biel’s wine venture. ELLE named Biel, her brother and sister-in-law Justin and Rose Biel, winemaker Jesse Katz, and Ariel and Chris Jackson as collaborators. The launch lineup comprised five wines: two Chardonnays, one Cabernet Sauvignon, and two proprietary blended reds.

ELLE reported that the first release totaled 900 cases across 2021 vintages; that is a launch-period figure, not a current production or inventory count. Biel described the timing of the project as intuitive and said the collaboration grew out of wines made for family and friends. The profile does not establish a current purchase or affiliate program.
