On 17 February 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared four family portraits on Instagram to spotlight Shaping Us, the Princess of Wales’s campaign focused on the social and emotional skills that begin developing in early childhood. Reports associated the drawings with Catherine and her three children, but Kensington Palace did not confirm who drew each portrait or who each one depicted.
What did the Prince and Princess of Wales share?
The Instagram post showed four portraits associated with the Princess of Wales and Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The Independent reported that the children appeared to have drawn their mother and identified three of the images by position: Louis for the top-left, Charlotte for the top-right and George for the bottom-left. Those identifications were media interpretations, not an official key from Kensington Palace.
Sky News reported that the Palace had not confirmed the artist or subject of each work. The available reporting therefore does not establish a definitive portrait-by-portrait attribution.
Why were the portraits shared?
The post publicised Shaping Us, a campaign about the importance of social and emotional skills that start developing in early childhood. The Shaping Us Framework describes the campaign’s focus on those early skills.

In the caption quoted by Sky News and Royal Central, Kensington Palace said: “Drawing portraits with children can provide a moment of connection as you spend time looking at and focusing on one another, as well as being creative and – most importantly – having lots of fun together!” The statement presented drawing as an opportunity to connect and create together; it was Palace social-post wording, not a separately attributed interview statement by Catherine.
