Speaking around 1 a.m. ET on November 6, while results were still coming in, he said people would need to regroup and keep working toward a better society.
What was Jon Stewart’s post-election night message?
Stewart cautioned against drawing sweeping conclusions about America or the world from an unsettled election night. As TVLine reported, he said viewers might make pronouncements about what the results meant, but that they would not yet know enough to declare “the finality of our civilization.”
His closing message was a call to keep going: “This isn’t the end. I promise you. This is not the end. We have to regroup, and we have to continue to fight, and continue to work day in and day out to create a better society for our children, for this world, for this country, that we know is possible. It’s possible.” The quoted passage is reproduced as TVLine published it.
When and where did Stewart deliver the remarks?
The remarks came during The Daily Show’s live 2024 Election Night special, at about 1 a.m. ET on Wednesday, November 6, according to TVLine’s contemporaneous report. The Associated Press had not yet called the presidential race at that point, so Stewart was speaking amid continuing uncertainty—not reacting to a race that had already been formally called.

Was this the same moment as Stewart’s jab at pollsters?
No. Stewart also delivered a separate, profanity-laced criticism of pollsters during the same special. That exchange is the focus of TheWrap’s November 6 report; it should not be confused with the hopeful closing remarks about regrouping and continuing to work.
