Joe Rogan praised Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on his podcast in August 2024, calling him “the only one that makes sense to me.” The next day, Rogan said the comments were not an endorsement. The headline’s references to a “brain worm” and a dead bear in Central Park point to separate stories Kennedy had discussed: his reported account of a past parasite and his description of leaving a road-killed bear cub in the park as a practical joke.
What Joe Rogan said about RFK Jr.
On the August 8, 2024 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan criticized politicians generally, then singled out Kennedy as an exception. Asked if he was a fan, Rogan said yes, calling Kennedy “the only one that makes sense to me.” He also described him as “more reasonable and intelligent” and “a legitimate guy.” The Guardian reported the comments on August 9.
Rogan clarified that day on X: “For the record, this isn’t an endorsement.” He said he liked Kennedy as a person and appreciated the civility and intelligence with which Kennedy discussed issues. Rogan also wrote that he was “not the guy to get political information from.” The distinction matters: his podcast remarks were strongly favorable, but he explicitly said they were not an endorsement. The Guardian reproduced his clarification.
What the Central Park bear story refers to
Kennedy recounted the episode in a video posted August 4, 2024, ahead of a New Yorker profile. He said that in fall 2014, while in New York’s Hudson Valley, he came across a bear cub that had been struck by a vehicle. He picked it up, intending to skin it, but later decided to leave it in Central Park with an old bicycle. His stated plan was to make it look as if the bear had been hit by a cyclist, as a practical joke. The Washington Post reported Kennedy’s account and the circumstances of the discovery.

The Washington Post reported that a necropsy found the six-month-old, 44-pound cub died after being hit by a vehicle. That reported finding is separate from Kennedy’s staged bicycle scenario; the joke concerned how the body would appear to have ended up in the park, not the bear’s actual cause of death. The Washington Post’s account of the investigation provides that detail.
What Kennedy meant by “brain worm”
The phrase refers to Kennedy’s account of a past health episode, not to a diagnosis independently established by the reporting cited here. In a deposition, Kennedy said a parasite entered his brain and died, and associated the episode with brain fog and difficulty with short-term memory. CNN’s transcript later recorded him joking, “Maybe a brain worm ate that part of my memory.” CNN reported on the deposition account and included the joke.

The medical details should therefore be attributed to Kennedy’s reported account. The cited coverage does not independently verify a diagnosis, identify a parasite species, or provide medical records. “Brain worm” is the shorthand that connected the deposition story to the campaign news; it should not be treated as a confirmed medical finding.

The headline combines Rogan’s favorable comments about Kennedy with two anecdotes that drew attention during the 2024 campaign. The bear story was Kennedy’s account of a 2014 event, made public in August 2024; the brain-parasite story came from a deposition account reported in May 2024. Neither anecdote changes the wording of Rogan’s follow-up: he praised Kennedy, then specifically said that praise was not an endorsement.

The word “bragged” is a characterization rather than a neutral description of the evidence. Kennedy described the parasite episode in a deposition and later joked about it; in the bear account, he described a practical joke involving the cub. The more precise summary is that he disclosed or recounted those episodes, while Rogan made supportive comments and disclaimed an endorsement.
