The second trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie premiered in a Nintendo Direct on November 29, 2022. The Tech Times report behind the headline says viewers spotted Yoshi in the clip and that Universal released new character posters. The announcement concerns the 2023 animated film—not the later The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
When did the second trailer come out?
Nintendo’s archive identifies the November 29, 2022 presentation as the world premiere of the film’s second trailer. The earlier trailer was presented on October 6, 2022. Nintendo’s November 29, 2022 Direct archive and its October 6, 2022 archive document the two presentations.
Nintendo and Illumination announced the second trailer in a corporate release dated November 30, 2022, the day after its premiere. The release also listed Japanese voice cast members: Mamoru Miyano as Mario, Arisa Shida as Princess Peach, Tasuku Hatanaka as Luigi, Kenta Miyake as Bowser and Tomokazu Seki as Toad. Nintendo and Illumination’s announcement provides those details.
Was Yoshi confirmed in the trailer?
The Tech Times article says Yoshi was spotted in the second-trailer clip. That is the basis for the headline’s Yoshi wording: it describes what viewers could see in the footage, rather than a separate Yoshi casting announcement in Nintendo and Illumination’s release. The corporate announcement confirms the trailer’s premiere, but does not independently identify Yoshi.

What did the new posters show?
The Tech Times report says new character posters were released and attributes them to Universal. Nintendo and Illumination’s announcement confirms Universal Pictures was the film’s worldwide distributor and co-financier alongside Nintendo, but does not list the posters or state how many there were. An exact poster count is therefore not established by that announcement.
Which Mario film does the headline refer to?
It refers to the 2023 The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the animated film produced by Chris Meledandri for Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. Universal Pictures and Nintendo co-financed it, and Universal distributed it worldwide, according to the companies’ announcement.

Yoshi was the subject of a separate, later announcement: on January 25, 2026, Nintendo and Illumination said the first look at Yoshi in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie had been revealed. That is a different film and should not be confused with the 2022 trailer story. Nintendo’s January 25, 2026 announcement also gives a later official figure of more than $1.3 billion worldwide for the earlier film.
