Jamie Bell has been cast as Duke Shelby in the new Peaky Blinders sequel series, taking over the role Barry Keoghan played in the 2026 feature film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. No reason for the change has been announced in the sources reviewed.
Who is Jamie Bell playing in Peaky Blinders?
Bell will play Duke Shelby, Tommy Shelby’s oldest son. Charlie Heaton has been cast as Charles Shelby. Netflix describes the series as a continuation of the story after the feature film, with a new generation of Peaky Blinders at its center. Netflix’s announcement identifies Bell and Heaton in those roles.

The story moves to post-war Birmingham, a decade after World War Two. Creator and writer Steven Knight described it as “a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s.” Netflix says the series follows the feature film and introduces a new generation of the gang. Filming, episode count and where to watch
Filming is underway in and around Digbeth Loc in Birmingham. The production companies are Kudos and Garrison Drama. RTÉ reports that the commission covers two series, each with six hour-long episodes, and that BBC One will show the series in the UK and Ireland while Netflix will carry it elsewhere.
