Kellie Pickler returned to the stage on April 22, 2024, at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, performing at a tribute to Patsy Cline. It was her first reported stage performance since her husband, songwriter Kyle Jacobs, died in February 2023. Pickler sang “The Woman I Am,” a song she and Jacobs co-wrote.
What happened at the Ryman
Pickler joined the Patsy Cline tribute concert at the Ryman Auditorium on April 22, 2024. She performed “The Woman I Am,” the title track of her 2013 album. The Independent described the concert as her first public performance since 2019; that is the outlet’s account, rather than a comprehensive performance record. E! News reported on the performance, as did The Independent.
Why she chose “The Woman I Am”
Pickler and Jacobs co-wrote the song, which gave the performance a direct connection to her late husband. Speaking to the audience, she said, “My husband and I actually wrote this song together, gosh over a decade ago.” She also recalled that her previous visit to the Ryman had been a date night with Jacobs, adding that she felt he was there with them and that she would do her best. Those remarks were reported by The Independent.
Pickler acknowledged feeling nervous
Before singing, Pickler told the audience, “I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was not incredibly nervous right now.” E! News also reported that she described it as her first time on stage in a while. E! News’s account attributes the remarks to Pickler.

Her 2024 return was not her latest performance
The Ryman concert remains the first reported stage performance after Jacobs’s death, but it was not Pickler’s latest public musical appearance. On May 4, 2026, she appeared on American Idol and duetted with Hannah Harper on “A Broken Wing,” according to E! News. The two milestones describe different events: the 2024 concert was her first reported post-loss stage performance, while the 2026 duet was a later televised appearance.
